Job summary

A local government authority in England is seeking a qualified Engineer to assist with flooding projects and support related teams. The ideal candidate should possess expertise in hydraulic and drainage design, with experience relevant to Flood and Water Management Act 2010. Responsibilities include project management, design and site supervision of flooding schemes, and producing technical documents. Qualifications

  • High level of expertise in hydraulic and drainage design including sustainable drainage systems.
  • Experience of Flood and drainage, particularly in accordance with the Flood and Water Management Act 2010.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver a range of flooding projects using appropriate software packages.
  • Undertake inspection, feasibility, design, and contract preparation.
  • Produce drawings and tender documentation according to industry standards.
  • Project management including consultation and public liaison.
  • Assess flood risk implications of new developments.
  • Use GIS for identifying local flood risks.
  • Process applications for Ordinary Watercourse Consent.
  • Raise awareness of flooding issues with planners and developers.
  • Be involved in local area studies and funding bids.
  • Participate in standby rota for major flooding events.
