Senior Financial Accountant, Christian Charity, Home Counties – Remote working, c£53-£60k (pro rata)

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a qualified Senior Accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA / ICAEW) with a depth of working experience to join this global Christian Charity’s Finance team. In this role, you will be playing a key part in ensuring accurate and timely financial processes for the charity and affiliated entities. Your responsibilities will include supporting monthly and year-end closings, assisting with annual financial statements and audits. You will review and authorize transactions, maintain strong relationships with banks, auditors, and vendors, and support compliance with regulatory and legal requirements. Additionally, you will help oversee insurance matters and provide backup for payroll and treasury. The function provides financial expertise in supporting their worldwide organization with services across Communications, Marketing, People & Culture, Advocacy, IT, Program Management, Finance and Global Research by working in a service-oriented way with teams and colleagues in other countries with Development or Field offices. You will be part of a committed and professional team, working closely with the Head of Finance and other finance experts to ensure their ministry operates with excellence and accountability.

Day-to-day Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting monthly and year-end closing of the accounts of the charity and affiliated entities.
  • Assisting with reviewing and authorizing financial transactions including staff expenses, bank accounts, and accountsoked payable.
  • Supporting regulatory and legal aspects as they arise including tax audits, VAT reviews, chamber of commerce compliance, and initiating updates when necessary.
  • Maintaining good relations and cooperating with clients such as Dutch banks, external auditors, tax advisors and vendors.
  • Acting as back-up for the UK, American and Dutch payrolls and treasury functions.
  • Assisting with the preparation of the annual financial statements discussing these with the Head of Finance and Financial Expert.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent.
  • Professional accountancy qualification (ACA / ACCA / CIMA / ICAEW) or equivalent.
  • At least 8 years professional experience in Accounting or a similar role.
  • Strategic, analytical, and excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to quickly adjust to meet the needs of the UK, Dutch, American and other international offices.
  • Excellent influencing and relationship building skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Occasional international travel possible.
  • Flexible working hours.
  • Acting & active Christian – Genuine Occupational Requirement (GOR) under the UK Equality Act 2010.
