Overview

Senior Financial Accountant – Belfast

Permanent | Full-time | Hybrid (after onboarding) | £55,000 + per annum

Reed Finance are delighted to be partnered with a fantastic client in Belfast to appoint a Senior Financial Accountant to join their team.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the successful Senior Financial Accountant will support the finance department's operations. This role requires an innovative thinker who can support with process improvements and changes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in process improvement, exceptional analytical skills and a proven track record of success in month end reporting.

Responsibilities
  • Mentor junior finance team, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Manage month-end close, statutory reporting, and financial consolidations.
  • Oversee balance sheet reconciliations, VAT/MTD submissions, and lease accounting.
  • Act as a key contact for internal teams, auditors, and tax authorities.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies.
Financial Planning & Reporting
  • Support budgeting and forecasting cycles.
  • Manage statutory accounts through to sign-off.
  • Maintain the Group lease management system.
Process & Systems Improvement
  • Identify and implement process enhancements to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Standardise procedures and leverage automation tools to streamline workflows.
Change & Integration
  • Support the integration of new systems and processes.
  • Assist with onboarding and aligning newly acquired businesses into existing finance operations.
What you need to succeed
  • Qualified accountant with minimum of 4 years post qualified experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of process improvement.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook etc) and ERP systems, with experience optimizing these tools.
