Job description
Senior Financial Accountant (12 Month Contract)

Robertson Bell are pleased to be working with a highly commercial public sector organisation, with multiple office locations throughout the UK, to recruit a Senior Financial Accountant on a 12-month contract.

This role is a hybrid role, covering a period of maternity, that can be based out of one of the following locations two, days per week:

  • London
  • Manchester
  • Darlington
  • Edinburgh
  • Belfast
  • Cardiff

The Senior Financial Accountant will be responsible for:

  • Preparing sections of the statutory accounts and supporting disclosure notes.
  • Managing month-end processes, including journals, reconciliations, and the depreciation process.
  • Overseeing accounts receivable activity, ensuring timely processing and accurate reporting.
  • Acting as a key reviewer for the payroll journal and stepping in to prepare it when required.
  • Line managing and developing a Finance Officer, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.
  • Reviewing and maintaining key policies, identifying improvements, and embedding best practice.
  • Supporting with the fixed asset register and associated accounting entries.

You will have:

  • A full accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Experience preparing financial statements and disclosures through to publication.
  • Strong line management skills, with a track record of coaching and developing at least one team member.
  • Excellent technical accounting knowledge and attention to detail.
  • A proactive approach to identifying and delivering process improvements.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

In addition to the salary on offer, our client offers a generous benefits package including an employer pension contribution closing on 30% and a holiday allowance of almost 35 days per annum.
