Job summary

A local government council is seeking a Senior Finance Manager for a temporary contract in Tendring. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with statutory requirements and oversee financial functions including budget preparation and monitoring. Ideal applicants will be CCAB qualified or studying towards it, knowledgeable in public sector finance, and possess strong analytical and communication skills. This is a full-time role requiring organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.

Location: Tendring District Council – Clacton on Sea

£272.90 PAYE / £350.00 Umbrella per day

Full-Time, Temporary

37 Hours per Week

About the Role:

Essex County Council (ECC) are delighted to be supporting Tendring District Council to recruit a temporary Senior Finance Manager on an initial 3 month contract. This role will ensure compliance with all relevant statutory and legislative requirements and deliver and develop a range of accountancy, corporate finance or finance related functions within the Council. This will include budget preparation, budget monitoring and contributing to the production of the Council’s Statement of Accounts along with providing advice and support to officers at all levels including Members of the Council. A key aspect of this role will be working alongside our Project Delivery team, a bespoke multidisciplinary team leading on a number of exciting schemes being driven by the Council, who are responsible for delivering strategic and transformational projects across the District, including regeneration, housing, economic development, and cultural initiatives.

About You:

As a qualified CCAB Accountant or currently studying towards it (preferably CIPFA) you will have a knowledge of public sector finance and good analytical and communication skills. You will have a knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and work well both independently and as part of a team. You will have a proven track record of leading on projects and supervising other members of the team as appropriate. The successful applicant will be expected to demonstrate a high level of professionalism and confidentiality, be able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines, balancing time and workload across multiple workstreams. You will need to be organised, self‑motivated and attentive to detail.
