Job summary

A leading energy provider in Bury St Edmunds seeks a skilled Senior Estimator to join the Capital Programme team. You will manage key estimation for major infrastructure projects, lead production of cost targets, and advise on estimating strategies. Qualifications

  • Estimating multi-discipline Civil, Mechanical, Structural and HV/LV electrical projects.
  • Working with complex work packages.
  • Understanding CDM regulations.
  • Experience in electrical power installations is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Own the production of Appendix B Target Cost in collaboration with Alliance Delivery Members.
  • Prepare sensitivity reviews and contributions for Gate B papers.
  • Identify scope gaps and ensure all updates are documented.
  • Provide expert advice on techniques, durations, and estimating strategies.
  • Support project teams with cost benefit analysis and risk assessment.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and internal procedures.
  • Mentor team members and contribute to estimating function.
  • Help shape a new estimating database and modernise internal processes.

Skills

Strong numerical and analytical skills
Solid commercial awareness
Understanding of Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project
Ability to interpret construction drawings and technical specifications
Knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, and procurement

Education

We're looking for a skilled Senior Estimator to join our Capital Programme directorate, working at the heart of the EPN Major Connections portfolio. What You’ll Be Doing
  • Owning the production of Appendix B Target Cost in collaboration with Alliance Delivery Members and Framework Providers
  • Preparing sensitivity reviews and contributions for Gate B papers
  • Identifying scope gaps and ensuring all updates are captured and documented
  • Providing expert advice on techniques, durations, and estimating strategies
  • Supporting project teams with cost benefit analysis, risk assessment, and programme reviews
  • Ensuring compliance with industry standards, CDM regulations, and internal procedures
  • Mentoring team members and contributing to a best in class estimating function
  • Helping shape a new estimating database and modernising internal processes

This is a visible role where you'll work closely with project managers, risk managers, technical SMEs, and senior stakeholders contributing to an annual £50m portfolio.
