Job description

Igne are seeking to appoint a Senior Engineering Geologist to join the successful and expanding Ground Investigation Division (GI England) based from Chester-le-Street, County Durham . You will be responsible for managing large complex ground investigation projects and have the expertise to write first class interpretative reports.

Key responsibilities :
  • Collect, validate, and log subsurface data, including borehole logs, sampling records, and geophysical survey outputs.
  • Perform geological interpretation of site data to develop factual logs and initial ground models.
  • Contribute to technical reporting, preparing factual geotechnical logs, laboratory data summaries, and interpretative narratives.
  • Maintain project schedules and resource allocations in collaboration with the Geotechnical Co‑ordinator.
  • Support tender preparation by providing scope input, cost estimates, and technical write‑ups.
  • Monitor specialist equipment usage and report any maintenance or calibration requirements.
  • Oversee and manage ground investigation projects.
The following are requirements for this position :
  • Bachelor or Masters’ degree in a related subject (Geotechnical Engineering, Geology and Environmental Science or related discipline)
  • Previous experience in contract management of ground investigation projects
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and reporting abilities
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Full driving licence (travel is required)
Salary & Benefits :
  • £35,000 to £40,000 per annum and generous benefits :
