Overview

Senior Enforcement Officer (Planning) – temporary role within the Planning & Development Team.

Location: LE67 • Rate: £35.76 per hour • Contract: Temporary, until December 2025

Responsibilities
  • Investigate alleged breaches of planning control, including monitoring planning conditions and unauthorised developments.
  • Undertake site inspections and monitoring visits to assess compliance with legislation.
  • Write reports, draft formal notices, and maintain accurate records.
  • Take appropriate enforcement action against those failing to comply with planning legislation.
  • Represent the authority at enforcement appeals, public inquiries and in court as required.
  • Provide professional advice and guidance to colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Support the monitoring and compliance of Section 106 agreements.
  • Offer day-to-day supervision and leadership to the planning enforcement team.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in enforcement, planning enforcement, or determining planning applications.
  • Strong knowledge of planning and enforcement legislation.
  • Proven experience of inspections, investigations, and taking enforcement action.
  • Excellent report writing skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
