Job description
What you’ll do

As the Senior Energy Management Consultant you will lead the demand side of the energy strategy, focusing on reducing consumption, managing the ISO 50001 Energy Management System (EnMS) and driving the organisation toward its Net Zero targets. You will partner with the Utilities Manager to optimise energy procurement and consumption across Lidl’s estate, including stores, regional distribution centres and offices. You will work closely with senior leadership to provide energy‑management subject‑matter expertise, lead the energy optimisation cycle, and realise efficiency projects from concept to implementation.

  • Represent the ISO 50001 certificate, ensuring continual certification of the management system.
  • Define, monitor and report on Energy Key Performance Indicators (EnPIs) and operational energy targets.
  • Maintain the portfolio of on‑site solar PV installations and the growing electric‑vehicle charge‑point network.
  • Use IT systems and BMS, metering, SEUs, and emerging technologies to deliver data‑driven insights and recommendations.
  • Travel within GB and internationally as required, including occasional overnight stays.
Qualifications
  • Significant experience managing energy efficiency in a multi‑site retail or commercial environment (supermarket experience highly advantageous).
  • Proven track record of implementing or maintaining ISO 50001 standards.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration and lighting control systems and energy‑saving strategies.
  • Advanced data‑analysis skills with proficiency in large‑dataset interrogation tools.
  • Ability to influence operational change across a broad range of departments, from regional teams to board level.
  • Knowledge of UK energy legislation, including ESOS, SECR and building regulations.

Target salary: £57,200 – £79,200 (depending on experience).
