Overview

The salary for this role is £56,596 (inclusive of a Specialist Allowance). Onsite working is expected, however, we actively support requests for flexible working. Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to make a real impact? Join our team as a Senior Electrical Technician and help shape the future of fusion energy. You will lead projects on the site-wide electrical distribution network in Rotherham, taking ownership of installations, modifications, fault finding, repairs, and improvements to LV/HV equipment, ensuring safe and reliable operation. Working alongside the project manager, you will deliver high-quality results on time and within budget, while providing clear technical direction and updates to both internal teams and external stakeholders. Responsibilities
  • Take full ownership of plant faults and work packages, ensuring issues are quickly resolved with technically robust solutions that meet safety, quality, and cost requirements.
  • Manage work on the site distribution network, preparing and maintaining engineering procedures, risk assessments, method statements, and local rules in support of UKAEA operations.
  • Take responsibility for the design, specification, procurement, installation, commissioning, and ongoing safe operation of assigned electrical systems, equipment, and subsystems.
  • Authorise and supervise electrical work, lead multidisciplinary teams (staff, contractors, ASWs), act as First Reporting Manager (FRM) or Contract Project Manager (CPM), and support the professional growth of junior technicians through coaching and mentoring.
  • Build and maintain positive collaborations with internal teams, external contractors, international laboratories, universities, suppliers, and professional networks. We’re looking for someone with proven experience in creating and approving Written Safe Systems of Work (WSSW), who is either appointed as or working towards Authorised Person Electrical [AP(E)] status, and who brings strong supervisory and leadership skills.
