Job summary

A leading ecological consultancy in the UK is seeking a Senior Ecologist to join their team. The ideal candidate will support partnerships, collaborate across disciplines, manage projects, and ensure compliance with UK wildlife legislation. Candidates should hold a BSc in ecology, have experience in consultancy, and possess a protected species survey license. Strong communication and leadership skills are essential. Qualifications

  • Experience in a consultancy or similar environment.
  • Strong understanding of UK and EU wildlife legislation and policy.
  • Experience conducting detailed assessments such as PEAs and ECIAs.
  • Familiarity with UKHab classification and Defra Metric.
  • Protected species survey license for at least one species.
  • Experience in managing projects, budgets, and client relationships.
  • Membership of CIEEM, IEMA or similar is ideal.
  • Proven experience in line management.

Responsibilities

  • Support partnerships with various water utilities and pursue new opportunities.
  • Collaborate with planning, engineering, and design teams for ecological projects.
  • Assist in building and leading a team of professionals.
  • Manage projects, budgets, and client relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with UK and EU wildlife legislation.
  • Contribute to ecological assessments.
