Job summary

A leading engineering firm is seeking a Senior EC&I Engineer with at least 5 years' experience in the Nuclear sector. The role involves supporting complex engineering projects and managing design activities. Ideal candidates should hold an HNC in Electrical Engineering and be skilled in EC&I design. This contract position is based in the UK with possible client site travel and offers up to 37 hours of work per week.

Job description

Job title: Senior EC&I Engineer – 5 year minimum in the Nuclear sector

Job Type: Contract - 12 months

Start date: ASAP

Salary: Inside IR35 - rate disclosed once contacted

Location: The role is based at one of the client's offices in Warrington, Abingdon, or Cumbria.

Hours of work: Up to 37 hours per week

Travel: Must be willing to travel to client sites as required.

Role Overview

The Senior EC&I Design Engineer will support the Principal Engineer in delivering complex engineering projects and may take ownership of smaller work packages with assistance from the wider team. The role covers the full lifecycle of EC&I design, from early concept development through detailed design, manufacture, installation, and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead or support the delivery of EC&I design work across all project stages.
  • Produce high-quality design documentation, drawings, and calculations in line with project standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage design activities to ensure deadlines and quality expectations are met.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and maintain communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant engineering principles, safety requirements, and site regulations.
Essential Qualifications & Experience

HNC (or equivalent) in Electrical, Control, or a related engineering discipline.
