Overview

An exciting interim opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join the commercial legal function of a high-profile media and publishing organisation on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

In this role, you will advise on a wide range of legal matters at the intersection of media, advertising, and technology. Working in a fast-paced and innovative environment, you’ll be part of a collaborative legal team supporting content, product, commercial, and technology stakeholders on complex, high-value projects.

The role:

  • Provide strategic legal advice on commercial, advertising, technology, and content-related matters.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of contracts, including those relating to AdTech, IP licensing, media partnerships, influencers, and marketing campaigns.
  • Advise on consumer protection, data privacy, regulatory compliance, and advertising standards.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to deliver commercially pragmatic legal guidance on new initiatives and risk.
  • Contribute to policy and process development, ensuring legal best practice across the organisation.
  • Supervise and mentor junior members of the legal team.
  • Liaise with external counsel on contentious and specialist matters, including IP and media disputes.
Ideal Candidate
  • Qualified solicitor 6+ years’ post-qualification experience.
  • Strong commercial background with hands-on experience in the media, advertising, or technology sectors.
  • In-depth knowledge of AdTech, contract law, content licensing, and data protection (including GDPR).
  • A confident negotiator with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Comfortable working under pressure in a high-volume, time-sensitive environment.
  • Proven ability to provide clear, risk-balanced advice to senior leadership.
  • Previous experience mentoring junior lawyers is desirable.
