Senior Clinical Psychologist

We are really excited to invite compassionate, dedicated applicants for a 1.0 WTE post for an 8a Senior Clinical Psychologist post to lead our S and W CMHT psychological therapists.

The team is supporting service users with complex mental health presentations associated with a high level of intersectional difficulties.

We are looking for a highly motivated experienced candidate, who is passionate to make a difference for our service users with complex mental health needs, is looking forward to work closely with all members of the multidisciplinary team, families and services users and is using a trauma informed approach to working with service users.

We welcome candidates who are confident and enthusiastic about working directly and indirectly to support formulation driven care with their therapy colleagues and wider teams.

Main duties of the job
  • Working closely with the Team Managers to provide clinical leadership for psychological therapists in the S and W CMHT including waiting lists, supervision of assistant psychologist, recruitment, reflective spaces, training and representation at locality leadership meetings.
  • Provide supervision and training for trainee clinical psychologists from the Leeds Doctorate programme.
  • Provide specialist evidence based psychological assessment, formulation & therapy, making autonomous clinical decisions about own professional practice. Provide clinical leadership, supervision, consultation and advice on psychological therapies. Provide clinical consultation and advice to healthcare professionals across all localities. Support adherence to relevant NICE guidance and clinical governance arrangements. To ensure the clinical effectiveness of own practice and of service functioning by undertaking research and development activities relevant to the service area. Work with the Team/Clinical Manager on service development, leading research and development activities.

Person Specification
Qualifications & Training
  • Doctorate level training in clinical or applied psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical, psychometrics, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS, or a BPS Statement of Equivalence.
  • Accreditation from HCPC
  • Eligibility for Chartered Clinical Psychologist status.
  • Undertaken post-qualification further training in a specialised area of psychological practice e.g. neuropsychology, CBT, CAT, DBT, systemic / family work etc.
  • Leadership training
  • Teaching (clinical practice) qualification/certificate or equivalent experience
  • Training in advanced clinical supervision.
  • Training in trauma informed care
Experience
  • Significant experience in relevant area of mental health practise
  • Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision
  • Experience delivering psychological therapies to patients with complex difficulties
  • Clinical leadership experience
  • Involvement in clinical research programmes
