Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a medical fellow to work within the department of Oncology at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. It is initially a 6‑month fixed‑term contract, forming part of the medical oncology postgraduate training rotation and providing great learning opportunities in a supportive environment. The role is ideal for trainees wishing to pursue a career in oncology, post‑MRCP part II, or those who have finished their oncology training and wish to develop their breast‑cancer experience. It may also be suitable for potential Portfolio Programme (ex‑CESR) trainees, but only with GMC registration and the ability to work immediately in the UK. The post allows considerable flexibility for the doctors to choose their area of research or education, to develop their CVs or clinical experience.

Main Duties of the Job
  • Provide high‑quality care to patients in oncology services, including research, teaching and training, performance management, medical staff management, governance and leadership, and teamwork.

Job Responsibilities
  • Maintain GMC specialist registration and develop competencies required to carry out the duties of the post.
  • Attend agreed direct clinical care programmed activities promptly.
  • Ensure patients are involved in decisions about their care and respond to their views.
  • Collaborate with academic and clinical colleagues to enhance the Trust’s translational research portfolio, meeting all research governance requirements.
  • Provide high‑quality teaching to medical undergraduates and other health‑care professionals as required by the clinical director.
  • Work with medical, nursing and managerial colleagues to ensure high performance in clinical efficiency, quality of outcomes, financial management and operational efficiency.
  • Participate in clinical audit, incident reporting and analysis, ensuring resulting actions are implemented.
  • Demonstrate excellent leadership skills within ward teams.
  • Collaborate with all members of the multi‑disciplinary team and the wider ICHT medical community.
Person Specification
Education / Qualifications – Essential
  • On GMC’s register with a Licence to Practice or eligible to apply for GMC registration.
  • MRCP part 1 and MRCP part 2 written.

  • Completion of core medical training.
  • Membership of the Royal College of Physicians part II.
