A leading healthcare provider in London is seeking a dedicated post holder to manage thrombosis and acquired bleeding services. Responsibilities include patient management, clinical governance, and staff training. The ideal candidate should possess clinical expertise and engage in multidisciplinary collaboration. This position offers opportunities for further training and research in a major teaching hospital environment.
The post holder will be responsible, with colleagues, for the provision of thrombosis and acquired bleeding services to Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. This includes diagnosis and treatment of patients across hospitals, health centres, clinics or other premises as required, and continuing clinical responsibility for patients with appropriate delegation and staff training.
Provide clinical input into the management of patients with thrombosis and acquired bleeding disorders. Participate in research to improve management of thrombotic and/or acquired bleeding disorders. Contribute to high standards of patient care through clinical and service activities. Engage in multidisciplinary and interprofessional collaboration with other specialties as required.
Take responsibility for the training and direction of junior staff allocated under the agreed training plan with supervising consultants. Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training. Participate in educational activities (departmental meetings, x-ray meetings, pathology meetings, multidisciplinary meetings, journal clubs, etc.).
Engage in clinical governance activities, including clinical audit, guideline and protocol development, and clinical risk management. Maintain participation in appraisal. Adhere to confidentiality, data protection and freedom of information requirements. Observe equal opportunities, health and safety, infection control, risk management and safeguarding policies. Comply with information governance requirements and local policies.
Work at Guy's & St Thomas' sites with opportunities to gain further knowledge and experience in managing thrombosis and acquired bleeding disorders. There may be responsibilities for cross-cover and collaboration with other team members, and opportunities to participate in research in thrombosis and/or autoimmune disorders and/or acquired bleeding disorders. The post holder will be accountable to the Clinical Lead for Haemostasis and Thrombosis.
