Job description

We have been assigned by one of the UK's more prestigious NHS Trusts to help them recruit a Senior Clinical Fellow in Paediatrics on either a Substantive or an NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months to join their successful Paediatrics department.

Our client is one of the largest hospital trusts in the country, with a staff of over 12,000, a turnover of around £1 billion and one million patient contacts a year. The Trust comprises two of London's oldest and best known teaching hospitals.

This post is divided into two parts. 50% of the time the post holder will be expected to focus on educational work, liaising with teams, developing programmes and delivering teaching. The other 50% the post holder is required to work a full on call system delivering clinical care at registrar level in a department which is aligned to their training interests and level.

The successful appointee will be asked to fulfil various duties, such as:

  • work with the Director of Education & Education and Training leads in providing training as required for our trust staff, with a focus on medical education
  • help with the development and delivery of Undergraduate teaching within the trust
  • work with the College Tutors to plan and deliver other clinically focused education and training as applicable for the doctors in training
  • support the Junior Doctors reps in developing their team and improving the training experience of all junior doctors
  • opportunities for the post holder to develop their own medical education interest or projects
  • take part in clinical governance activity, including clinical audit, clinical guideline and protocol development and clinical risk management
