Job description
Overview

The clinical duties of the post are the day-to-day care of patients admitted to the neurosurgical department, including admission, clinical examination, coordination of investigations, liaison with senior colleagues and operating time. You will be rostered to attend neurosurgical operating theatres and teaching clinics on a regular basis.


Responsibilities


  • Care of patients on the wards, assistance in the operating theatre, attendance at appropriate clinics and MDTs, and review of relevant literature and clinical data.

  • Take part in the 1 in 14 tier-one on-call rota with responsibility for emergency referrals and triaging, and providing emergency neurosurgical care under supervision.

  • Travel to other hospitals as required.

  • Participate in departmental teaching program and contribute to teaching clinics and ongoing professional development.

  • Highly motivated doctors to work in the Neurosurgical Department at King\'s College Hospital.

  • Expected to participate fully in the departmental teaching program; junior doctors have a strong record of progression to specialty training. Note: these posts are not currently recognised for training.

  • Unique experience with a department that has a history of career advancement in neurosurgery for previous post-holders.
