Qualifications

  • Registered with the General Medical Council and hold a license to practice.
  • Possession of FRCOphth/MRCOphth or equivalent ophthalmic qualification.
  • Applicants should be Specialist Trainee grade or equivalent and be near to or completed higher specialist training in Ophthalmology.
  • Experience in phacoemulsification cataract surgery; completed 250 surgeries with audit evidence of results.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently without supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in cornea and cataract clinics and theatre lists across multiple sites.
  • Provide eight clinical sessions each week, including one to two theatre sessions, an audit/research session, and dedicated teaching time.
  • Attend departmental teaching sessions on Thursday afternoons.
  • Support development of corneal surgery skills with a consultant ophthalmic surgeon.
  • Contribute to departmental teaching sessions and support local and specialist services.

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust for a Corneal Fellowship for a fixed term of 12 months.

Contract Details

12 month fixed term contract from August 2026 to August 2027.

Qualifications
