Qualifications

Job description

As a Senior Clerk of Works - Construction, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll lead on-site coordination, review critical documentation, and oversee temporary works regimes, making a real impact on projects that support national defence. This is your opportunity to apply your expertise in a dynamic environment and develop your career in a sector that matters. Day-to-day, you'll provide strategic site assurance and oversight across multiple projects and programmes, acting as the vital link between delivery teams, the client, and our Construction leadership. You'll strengthen compliance, enhance delivery confidence, and ensure that every construction activity meets the highest standards of safety and quality.

  • Acting as the Client's Representative or Principal Contractor site assurance lead
  • Reviewing and acknowledging work documentation, including RAMS and SSOWs
  • Leading on-site coordination and progress meetings, capturing key issues and risks
  • Providing oversight of construction activities and verifying planned controls before work starts
  • Delivering clear reports and escalation notes to support informed decision-making

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.

Essential Experience
  • Proven track record overseeing construction quality, compliance, and assurance in live projects
  • Experience producing/reviewing PCI, CPP, RAMS and conducting inspections under CDM 2015
  • Knowledge of Building Safety Act 2022 and nuclear licence conditions
  • Familiarity with risk assessment and control of high-risk activities (lifting ops, confined space, work at height)
  • Skilled in delivering inductions and compliance briefings to contractors
Qualifications
  • HNC/HND/ONC in Construction, Civil Engineering, Building Services or equivalent
  • NVQ Level 4-5 in Construction Site Supervision/Management (or equivalent competence-based qualification)
Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
