Job summary

A design & build contractor in Greater Manchester is seeking an experienced Civil Design Engineer to support the Detailed Design phase of multiple UK water projects. Job Role: Civil Design Engineer
Salary / Rate: £45-£50 /hour Outside IR35
Location: Greater Manchester (Hybrid working)

Our client is a reputable Design & Build Contractor looking for an experienced Civil Engineer to support the Detailed Design phase of multiple projects on major UK water frameworks.

About the Role:

• Provide civil design deliverables that meet safety, quality, and technical requirements
• Produce civil design calculations, drawings, and specifications for the UK water industry
• Direct and support CAD technicians and junior civil designers
• Prepare scopes of work and review output from subcontract M&E and civil design teams
• Liaise with suppliers and other disciplines, prepare civil engineering specifications, and review technical submissions
• Undertake site investigations and assessments to inform design development
• Ensure civil design work complies with relevant technical standards and industry codes (e.g., Eurocodes, CIRIA, CDM Regulations)
• Manage and document any design changes throughout the project lifecycle
• Estimate design hours and resource requirements for civil packages
• Attend and contribute to project meetings and design reviews as needed

About You:

• Degree, HND or equivalent experience in Civil Engineering
• Minimum of 5 years’ civil design experience in the UK water sector
• Proficient with civil engineering design software (e.g., Civil 3D, MicroDrainage, AutoCAD, Revit)
• Experience with clean water and wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects
• Strong technical knowledge in earthworks, pipework layouts, concrete structures, foundations, and temporary works
• Chartered or working towards chartership (e.g., with ICE)
• Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills
• Results-driven with a focus on quality, safety, and continuous professional development
