SENIOR CHILDCARE & EDUCATION PRACTITIONER

Full Time – 35.83 Hours/Week (Monday – Friday, 8 hours per day between the hours of 8am-6pm)

Salary – Up To £28,292.90/annum depending on qualification

Purpose of the Senior Childcare & Education Practitioner

To have a key role in the efficient and effective delivery of high-quality childcare and education services for a diverse range of children attending North Edinburgh Childcare’s Nursery.

To supervise the day‑to‑day work of team members and maintain an overview of the provision.

To be responsible for the day‑to‑day running of a busy playroom within the nursery for children aged 4 months-5 years.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the delivery of high‑quality childcare and education services.
  • Supervise and support team members, maintaining overall provision oversight.
  • Manage the daily operations of the playroom for children aged 4 months–5 years.
  • Plan, implement and evaluate early learning and childcare services.
  • Promote learning, development and well‑being of children, meeting their care, support and learning needs.
  • Oversee the work of others, ensuring compliance with National Practice Guidance, curriculum, and competency framework.
  • Provide a safe and stimulating environment and take responsibility for groups of children on outings.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Experience working in an early years setting, with sound knowledge of documents such as Realising the Ambition: Being Me, National Practice Guidance For Scotland and the Curriculum for Excellence.
  • Ability to support colleagues in planning, implementation and evaluation of quality early learning.
  • Experience with 4 month-2 year olds (baby room) is advantageous.
  • Relevant qualification to apply for this post.
  • Eligibility to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme; register with the Scottish Social Services Council at Practitioner Level; work in the UK with relevant documents.
