Job summary

A leading insurance firm in London is seeking an experienced analyst to manage the marine portfolio, focusing on catastrophe modeling, data governance, and internal reporting. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in Insurance and strong analytical skills. This role requires effective communication of complex modeling concepts and offers a collaborative work environment.

Qualifications

  • Good working knowledge of at least 1 catastrophe model, preferably Verisk/AIR.
  • Strong understanding of Insurance gained in a relevant industry role.
  • Practical knowledge of marine insurance policies.
  • Ability to communicate complex catastrophe modelling concepts to a non-technical audience.
  • Proven organisational and workload management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent IT skills, including programming skills (e.g. Excel, VBA and SQL).
  • Analytical/technical mindset with an understanding of Catastrophe Models and financial model output.
  • 5+ years Insurance experience.
  • Experience working in a similar role, in a Lloyd’s syndicate or similar.

Responsibilities

  • Lead analyst for marine across multiple sub classes of business.
  • Responsible for managing all aspects of the marine portfolio for exposure management.
  • Analysis of monthly variances and ensuring good data governance.
  • Preparing data for outwards reinsurance purchasing.
  • Assist with internal and external reporting.
  • Support during Event Response.
  • Ad hoc requests from underwriters to assist with pricing and monitoring of risk.

Role Summary and Purpose

Role Summary and Purpose: This role is responsible for the management and modelling of the marine portfolio, including cargo, specie & hull assets. This role communicates with underwriters to ensure the smooth operation of Exposure Management services within the business, including gathering accurate and timely data for modelling. It involves ad hoc projects such as model validation and process automation.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Lead analyst for marine across multiple sub classes of business, including cargo, specie & hull.
  • Responsible for managing all aspects of the marine portfolio for exposure management and catastrophe analytics purposes.
  • Analysis of monthly variances and ensuring good data governance within Arch portfolios.
  • Preparing data for outwards reinsurance purchasing for multiple Arch entities.
  • Assist with internal and external reporting.
  • Support during Event Response.
  • Completing ad hoc requests from underwriters to assist with pricing and monitoring of risk.
  • Ad hoc requests from the Catastrophe Managers and Head of Department.
