Overview

Purpose of position: To support the head of home in all aspects of the home's management, including taking complete charge during the absence of the senior staff.
Responsibilities
- Help to ensure that all junior and domestic staff contribute to the best of their ability to the efficient running of the home and the creation of the right atmosphere.
- Assist service users with their personal care needs and help to provide health supervision and attention through direct nursing care when needed.
- Help with the formulation of social and health care plans for new service users and with service user reviews.
- Help to control the issue of drugs for which the home has taken responsibility and to maintain the necessary records.
- Participate in the development of activities for service users in which they can join and which will enhance their quality of life.
- Help to ensure that the preparation, cooking and serving of food meet the required standards.
- Help to ensure that rooms and common spaces are properly cleaned and maintained and adequately heated.
- Participate in staff meetings and in staff training and development activities.
- Support the head of home in his or her duties as the "responsible officer" for the home under the Health and Safety at Work, etc Act 1974 and the fire regulations.
- Help the head of home maintain such log books and records as may be required by the registering authority or the managers of the home.
Hours
Hours of work: full-time.
Qualifications
- QCF Diploma Level 3 or equivalent (can be working towards)

- Supporting and assisting with all personal care requirements
- Charting or taking notes for others to review
- Providing companionship and supportive listening
- Observing and reporting any changes in the health or status of the patient
- Taking vitals, height, and weight
- Preparing meals and feeding patients
- Responding to emergency situations
- Prompting and administering medication
- Providing support with hobbies, studies, and social activities
