Overview

Location: Cambridge (CB25). Duration: Permanent. Hours: 9am until 5:30pm (Monday to Friday). Salary: 40,000 - 45,000 depending on experience. Job Reference: 35806.

Polytec are looking for a Senior Buyer to join an expanding team in Cambridge. You'll need extensive supply chain experience to succeed in the role.

Travel and clearance

This role involves some international travelling so the successful applicant will have a full, clean driving licence, own car and passport. Travel expenses will be paid. This role will also require Security Clearance which the successful candidate should be prepared to go through.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Purchasing Team Leader to define and implement purchasing strategy
• Work with key stakeholders to define and deploy supply chain strategy for new product developments
• Identify, select and approve suppliers that meet the short, medium and long-term needs of the business
• Negotiate and agree contracts for outsourced projects for accessories
• Work with NPI to co-ordinate and set-up new suppliers
• Coach and consult with Purchasing team to ensure best practices are maintained

Requirements

• Level 4 CIPs Advanced Diploma in Procurement and Supply
• Extensive Supply Chain experience within the Electronics/Telecommunications Industries, including the management of complex global Supplier/Customer relationships
• Experience of off-shore Contract Manufacturing Management
• Experience of product development from concept to volume manufacture
• Credibility to influence at senior level - with both internal and external stakeholders
• Priority and time management - ability to act decisively under pressure
