Job summary

A public sector organization is looking for two Senior Azure Data Engineers for a contract role in Lewes. The successful candidate will take ownership of technical delivery within an agile squad, build scalable Azure-based solutions, and mentor junior staff. The contract lasts until 31/03/26, with potential extensions and requires 4 days of office attendance in Brighton. The position offers a competitive rate of £550 per day inside IR35.

Morgan Hunt are working with a public sector organisation based in Brighton to recruit two Senior Azure Data Engineers on a contract basis. The role is focused around Azure, so someone with strong knowledge of Azure would be preferred. The role is on a contract basis, but there is potential for the role to be extended beyond the initial end date.

Key Responsibilities

• Owning technical delivery within an agile squad by translating user stories into robust Azure-based data engineering solutions
• Building scalable, cost-efficient components of the organisations Data Platform
• Maintaining compliance with governance policies
• Supporting operational reliability through monitoring and alerting
• Staying current with evolving technologies
• Coaching and mentoring junior engineers, guiding analysts on data platform use, helping develop data capability across the organisation
• Supporting or deputising for the Principal Data Engineer in solution design and team leadership

Experience Required

• Strong knowledge of cloud data platforms and data storage technologies (Azure preferably)
• Hands-on data engineering development experience
• Strong SQL skills
• Data integration and workflow application knowledge (preferable Azure Data Factory)
• Agile working experience

Contract until 31/03/26 (extension possibility - 6/9 month project)

4 days per month office attendance (Brighton office)

£550 per day Inside IR35 (flexibility available)
