Overview

Our client is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to modernise their automated testing framework and lead the automation of post-deployment smoke tests. Working on a complex, distributed trading platform, this role is central to enhancing quality, reliability, and efficiency across the SDLC.

The Role

You'll drive improvements in automated testing practices, design and maintain test frameworks, and implement production smoke testing. This role blends strong QA automation expertise with DevOps awareness to ensure quality software delivery in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead automated functional, regression, integration, and performance testing
• Design, write, execute, and maintain automated test suites (Python, Java, or similar)
• Enhance and optimise the existing automation framework
• Build and implement production smoke test tooling
• Collaborate with development and QA teams to deliver high-quality releases
• Support production testing and provide third-tier troubleshooting where required

Essential Experience

• 5+ years in automation testing within financial services or vendor environments
• Strong coding skills in Python, Java, or a similar language
• Solid knowledge of equity products, FIX protocol, and market data
• Hands-on experience with Linux, SQL, messaging, and distributed systems
• Proven experience with the full agile software development lifecycle

Desirable Experience

• Strong QA automation background with a focus on scaling frameworks and test coverage
• Experience delivering testing solutions across multiple teams or business units
• Familiarity with AWS-based environments and cloud migrations
