Job description

We are seeking a highly experienced Structural Engineer at Senior Associate or Technical Director level to join an established structural engineering team in Lisburn. The successful candidate will lead structural design and delivery across a varied project portfolio for private and public sector clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead structural engineering design and delivery for projects typically ranging from one million to twenty million pounds with occasional larger developments up to approximately forty million
  • Manage full project lifecycle including planning, design, execution, quality assurance, budget and timeframe oversight
  • Select structural materials and systems considering strength, durability, cost‑effectiveness and buildability
  • Produce detailed structural designs including calculations, specifications and analysis reports in line with relevant codes and standards
  • Provide technical oversight during construction including reviewing fabrication drawings, carrying out site inspections and ensuring compliance with design intent
  • Prepare reports summarising analysis, inspection findings, design changes and recommendations
  • Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, contractors and wider stakeholders to ensure coordinated project delivery
  • Mentor junior staff and support a culture of quality and efficient technical practice
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Chartered Engineer status (e.g., MStructE, MICE or equivalent)
  • Minimum eight years experience in structural engineering
  • Proven track record delivering smaller and larger projects across sectors
  • Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., MasterSeries, Tekla Structural Designer or similar)
  • Strong knowledge of relevant building codes, Eurocodes and regional standards
  • Excellent problem‑solving ability particularly during design and construction stages
  • Strong communication and coordination skills
  • Experience working on projects in the Republic of Ireland would be beneficial
