Summary of role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Anaesthetic Practitioner (Band 6) to join our Operating Theatres department based at The London Clinic’s main hospital site in Central London. We are also offering a highly competitive salary.

Established in 1932, The London Clinic is one of the UK’s largest private hospitals, with state‑of‑the‑art facilities located around Harley Street. We have approx. 1300 employees across 8 sites, and our main hospital site spans 8 floors comprising of 10 theatres, including a Hybrid theatre and two minimally invasive and day surgery theatres. We are known for undertaking complex surgery across the following speciality areas; General surgery; ENT; Gynaecology; Hepatobiliary; Neuro‑spinal; Ophthalmic; Orthopaedic; Plastic and reconstructive; Robotic; Urology; Vascular & bariatric surgery.

Job Profile

The Senior Anaesthetic Practitioner is responsible for planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care without direct supervision, and expected to supervise qualified and unqualified staff.

  • Job Location : This role is located at our main hospital site in London, W1G 6BW (Close to Regents Park & Baker Street tube stations).
  • Job Type : This is a full‑time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week; Monday to Sunday. We operate a mixed shift pattern working 5 shifts p / week - Earlies, Lates & Twilight shifts, as well as participation in the on‑call rota.
  • Salary : Highly competitive plus we also offer unsociable hours shift enhancements, and the salary will be dependent upon skills and experience.

Key Duties
  • Work as a skilled member of the anaesthetic team, providing the highest standard of patient care across a varied caseload, whilst aiding and supporting the anaesthetic physician / consultant anaesthetists.
  • Devise, implement and assess individualised care plans for a wide and diverse patient group, and promoting best evidence‑based practice.
  • Supervise and support members of the anaesthetic team ensuring that all staff are able to provide the highest standard of care.
  • In the absence of the Charge Nurse / ODP you will have continuing responsibility for the management of the Anaesthetic department, including the deployment of staff and the use of equipment and resources.
  • Ensure a welcoming, caring and safe environment, as well as promoting, maintaining and monitoring standards in accordance with the guidelines of the NMC / HCPC and CQC.
Skills & Experience
  • RGN / ODP qualified practitioner, with a recognised anaesthetic course qualification.
  • NMC or HCPC registration.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in anaesthetics with an excellent understanding of the perioperative needs of patients and customers, and a wide knowledge of anaesthetic practices and procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with experience of supervising a multi‑disciplinary team.
  • Motivated and enthusiastic with a passion for high quality patient care, as well as the ability to work well under pressure and flexibly as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
