Overview

The post holder will play a key role in the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service to patients. They will ensure that streamlined administrative processes are implemented and followed which are focused on the patient and their individual needs. The Senior Patient Administrator will provide effective and efficient administrative support to the operational team. The successful candidate will also provide an administrative service in relation to matters relating to compliance with CERNER (Patient Administration System), data quality issues related to 18 week targets, cancer two week waits and using initiatives to find out answers to queries. The role will also involve providing support to the Junior Service Manager for the maintenance of the junior doctor rota, inputting shifts, cancellations & swaps and recording any gaps in the rota onto Patchwork. Management of consultant leave on Healthroster.

Responsibilities
  • Provide effective and efficient administrative support to the operational team.
  • Provide an administrative service relating to CERNER (Patient Administration System), data quality issues related to 18 week targets, cancer two week waits and related queries.
  • Support the Junior Service Manager (JSM) for the maintenance of the junior doctor rota, inputting shifts, cancellations & swaps and recording any gaps in the rota onto Patchwork; manage consultant leave on Healthroster.
  • Support JSM in maximizing the best use of clinical/non-clinical resources.
  • Ensure any training issues are resolved and generate reports relating to CERNER at the request of the division.
  • Monitor division indicators and take action to clear backlog; communicate CERNER issues to clinical/non-clinical staff.
  • Submit shifts for bank staff onto Patchwork; manage inquiries in a timely, polite, professional and confidential manner, escalating as appropriate.
  • Proactively manage patient pathways to ensure high standard of service delivery; use initiative when dealing with patients’ problems or when dealing with managers and consultants who may request patient information.
  • Support in new staff induction; organise ID, training access, etc.
  • Suggest improvements to systems and ways of measuring effectiveness of changes; collect data to measure performance of the department against objectives.
  • Participate in regular team meetings and other relevant meetings (e.g., Patient Access) with preparation of Access pack.
  • Organise and prioritise workload with minimal supervision; liaise with other departments and teams related to the patient care pathway and service delivery.
  • Assist JSM in performing all clinic configurations on CERNER, including cancelling and amending clinics for annual leave, etc.
