Senior Accountant

Competitive Salary, £5,500 Car allowance, plus full family Healthcare, 18% annual bonus potential with 27.5 days annual leave, plus bank holidays, increasing with years served and a company pension scheme with highly competitive contribution rates. Permanent, Full time.

This role can be based at either our London (Farringdon) office or Chesterfield (Future Walk) office, with an expectation to work onsite 2-3 days per week.

Join the Group Finance team at International Distribution Services (IDS). This is a pivotal function that partners with Royal Mail's Finance team to drive performance and deliver strategic financial insights. This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified finance professional who is either looking to make their first move into industry from practice or take the next step in their career.

About the Role

Reporting to the Director of Group Finance, you will act as the subject matter expert for Group accounting. You'll sit within the Treasury function, although previous Treasury experience is not required.

You will also:

  • Oversee all Group accounting activities, providing key support to the Treasury function.
  • Own treasury-related elements of the IDS Group consolidated financial statements, including year-end disclosures, analysis, calculations, and input into presentations.
  • Manage the relationship with external auditors on all treasury accounting matters and disclosures.
  • Lead on accounting judgments and initiatives, communicating impacts to the Group CFO and Director of Group Finance.
  • Support wider financial planning activities, including budgeting and forecasting.
About You
  • Professional accounting or finance qualification (essential).
  • Strong technical accounting skills and experience with financial controls.
  • Advanced knowledge of IFRS 9 (desirable).
  • Proactive, strategic mindset with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Hands‑on, enthusiastic approach with a drive to deliver results.
