Overview

SEND Teaching Assistant – SEMH & Trauma-Informed Support – Coventry
Location: Coventry
Contract Type: Full-time
Salary: £89 – £105 per day / £445 – £525 per week

We are looking for a resilient and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a Coventry school. This role is ideal for someone with experience in trauma-informed practice who can provide structure, consistency, and a positive role model for young people.

Responsibilities
  • Work 1:1 or in small groups with pupils experiencing SEMH challenges.
  • Use restorative approaches and de-escalation techniques to support regulation.
  • Build positive relationships and encourage resilience and self-confidence.
  • Collaborate with SENCO, teachers, and external agencies to deliver support plans.
  • Create a safe and structured environment that supports emotional wellbeing.
About You / Qualifications
  • Previous experience supporting SEMH in schools, PRUs, or alternative provisions.
  • Trauma-informed approach, with patience and strong emotional resilience.
  • Confident supporting children who have experienced ACEs or exclusions.
  • Training in Team Teach, MAPA, or similar is beneficial (not essential).
