Overview

Job Title: SEND College Tutor

Location: Wandsworth, London

Hours: Full Time – Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm

Start Date: Monday 29th September

Salary: Paid to scale (dependent on experience and qualifications)

About the Role: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEND College Tutor to join our supportive and inclusive team. This is a full-time position, working with young people aged 16+ with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them achieve their educational and personal development goals. As a tutor, you will deliver high-quality, personalised learning experiences that support learners' individual needs, build their independence, and prepare them for adulthood, employment, or further education.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons tailored to learners with a range of SEND, including autism, learning difficulties, and complex needs
  • Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists, and external professionals
  • Track student progress and provide regular feedback to learners and families
  • Contribute to the development of individual learning plans (ILPs) and EHCP outcomes
  • Support learners in developing life skills, communication, and confidence
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with college policies and safeguarding requirements
Qualifications
  • Experience teaching or supporting students with SEND in a college or similar setting
  • Recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, CertEd, QTS, or equivalent)
  • Sound knowledge of SEND strategies and a commitment to inclusive education
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
  • A clear and enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
