Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver personalized learning plans based on the student's interests, abilities, and goals.

  • Use multi-sensory and adaptive teaching methods to support engagement and understanding.

  • Collaborate with parents, carers, and other professionals (e.g., therapists, SEN coordinators) to ensure consistency and holistic support.

  • Monitor progress, provide regular feedback, and adjust strategies as needed.

  • Create a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment where the student feels valued and understood.

Essential Skills & Experience
  • Experience supporting children or young people with complex or additional needs (e.g., autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, sensory impairments, medical needs).

  • Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and individualised education plans (IEPs).

  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach with families and professionals.

  • Patience, flexibility, and a genuine commitment to helping each learner reach their potential.

Desirable Qualifications
  • Teaching or tutoring qualification (QTS, SENCo, or equivalent).

  • Training or certification in special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), speech and language strategies, or positive behaviour support.

  • Experience with assistive technology or alternative communication methods (AAC, PECS, etc.).
