Qualifications

About the Role

Prospero Teaching is seeking an experienced and dedicated SEN Tutor to join our team in Lancashire, starting in January 2026. This role involves providing 1:1 tutoring for students with complex Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Autism, ADHD, SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs, and those working below expected levels. We understand that every learner’s needs are unique, which is why we offer flexible hours that allow you to work around your schedule. This role offers you the chance to make a genuine, lasting impact on students’ educational experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver GCSE Maths and English lessons on a 1:1 basis, personalised to each student’s learning needs.
  • Adjust lesson content and pace to support emotional regulation and different learning styles.
  • Assist students in developing subject knowledge, study skills, and boosting their exam confidence.
  • Build a trusting and consistent rapport with students to create a safe, supportive learning environment.
  • Regularly monitor student progress and provide clear, constructive feedback to parents, carers, or other professionals involved.
Essential Requirements
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience teaching or tutoring Maths or English.
  • Experience working with SEN students in a 1:1 or small group setting.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Must have, or be willing to undertake, an Enhanced DBS check.
Desirable Qualifications
  • PGCE in Secondary Education and/or Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Experience working with students with Autism, ADHD, or SEMH needs.
