We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join specialist schools, alternative provisions, and inclusive mainstream settings across Leeds.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including autism, SEMH, and complex learning or physical needs.

  • Support pupils with their learning and social development, both in small groups and on a 1:1 basis.

  • Assist with personal care and moving & handling where needed (training can be provided).

  • Implement strategies to support communication, such as Makaton, PECS, and visual timetables.

  • Help manage behaviour positively, using de-escalation and (if trained) Team Teach techniques.

  • Work closely with teachers, HLTAs, and therapists to deliver personalised support in line with EHCPs.

  • Provide emotional and pastoral support, helping pupils feel safe and included.

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN/SEMH needs (school, care, or support setting).

  • Teaching Assistant qualification (L2/3) desirable, but not essential if you have relevant experience.

  • Full-time availability - reliability is key!

  • Enhanced DBS (child workforce) on the Update Service (child and adult DBS welcome).

  • Moving & Handling, Team Teach, or Makaton training desirable (can be provided for the right person).

  • Driving licence and own transport preferred (some sites are not easily accessible by public transport).

  • Competitive daily pay: £90-£105/day.

  • Long-term roles with potential to go temp-to-perm.

  • Full-time hours in supportive and welcoming settings.

  • Access to free CPD and training opportunities to develop your skills in SEN support.

  • The chance to make a real difference to children's education and wellbeing.
