Job summary

A specialist educational support provider in the United Kingdom is seeking a dedicated professional to support pupils with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD). Job description
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to pupils with PMLD.
  • Assist with personalised learning activities, sensory programmes, and therapeutic interventions.
  • Support pupils with personal care, including feeding, toileting, and mobility, following training and school protocols.
  • Use specialist equipment (e.g., hoists, switches, sensory resources) safely and confidently.
  • Help maintain accurate records of progress, behaviour, and wellbeing.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and external professionals.
  • Promote communication using a range of methods (e.g., eye‑gaze, symbols, switches, AAC).
  • Foster a positive, nurturing, and respectful environment.
Person Specification
Essential:
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN, ideally PMLD.
  • Calm, patient, and adaptable with excellent communication skills.
  • Willingness to provide personal care and follow individual care plans.
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable:
  • Knowledge of sensory approaches, AAC, or therapeutic interventions.
  • Training in manual handling, hoisting, or medical needs support.
