SEND Teaching Assistant - Primary PRU

Location: Hillingdon, West London
Start Date: January 2026
Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term
Pay: 95-125 per day (PAYE, dependent on experience)

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a compassionate and resilient Learning Mentor to join a Primary Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Hillingdon from January. This role is ideal for professionals with experience supporting pupils with SEMH, ADHD, autism or challenging behaviour.

The PRU provides a structured, nurturing, and inclusive environment for pupils aged 5-11 who have been excluded or are at risk of exclusion, helping them rebuild confidence, develop social skills, and make academic and personal progress.

Your Role:
  • Deliver targeted 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH and additional needs
  • Assist with behaviour management using restorative and positive approaches
  • Support pupils to build emotional resilience, self-esteem and social skills
  • Work with teachers to implement personalised learning and interventions
  • Promote a safe, calm and engaging classroom environment
What We're Looking For:
  • Experience in a PRU, SEMH school or SEND setting
  • Calm, patient, and empathetic approach with strong behaviour management skills
  • Passion for supporting children to overcome barriers to learning
  • Team Teach or equivalent training desirable, but not essential
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
