As an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide targeted assistance to children with a range of special educational needs. You will play a vital role in creating an inclusive and supportive environment, ensuring each pupil feels valued and encouraged in their learning journey.

Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one or small group support for pupils with SEN.
  • Assist in implementing individual learning plans tailored to students’ needs.
  • Support classroom activities and adapt resources to aid learning.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and promote social and emotional development.
  • Monitor and record pupils’ progress, reporting back to teachers and parents.
  • Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and external specialists to ensure the best outcomes for pupils.
SEN Teaching Assistant Requirements
  • CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ Level 2/3 in Childcare/Teaching Assistance, or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience working with children, ideally in an SEN environment.
  • Knowledge of strategies to support children with diverse learning needs.
  • Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting child welfare.
  • Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or willingness to apply through GSL Education.
