SEN Teacher - Alternative Provision

Maidstone

Academics are seeking a compassionate, creative and resilient SEN Teacher to join a Alternative Provision in Maidstone. You will be working with children from EYFS through to Year 9 who experience communication and interaction difficulties, supporting them to re-engage with learning and achieve their potential in a nurturing environment.

About the role
  • Teach and support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, primarily in communication and social interaction
  • Plan and deliver differentiated lessons tailored to individual EHCPs and learning needs
  • Create a safe, structured and engaging learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team including therapists, support staff and families
  • Support pupils' emotional regulation, independence and personal development
  • Track and assess progress, maintaining accurate records and contributing to review meetings
About you
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/PGCE or equivalent) - ECTs considered
  • Experience working with pupils with SEN (e.g., autism, speech and language needs, social communication difficulties)
  • Understanding of strategies such as visual supports, structured teaching and social skills development
  • Strong behaviour‑management skills with a trauma‑informed and relational approach
  • Patient, adaptable and positive, with a genuine passion for inclusive education
  • Able to build trusting relationships and communicate effectively with pupils, families and colleagues
