Job description
SEN/SEMH Teacher

Are you a passionate, experienced and patient SEN Teacher? Are you looking for a new challenge in an excellent SEND/SEMH specialist school?

I am working with a multi‑academy trust that is looking for a SEN/SEMH Teacher to join their specialist school this January. The school provides a highly personalised learning environment for students aged 6 to 19 with a range of complex needs, including Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), Moderate Learning Disabilities (MLD), Severe Learning Disabilities (SLD), autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, and other associated difficulties. Many of our students also have medical needs and sensory or physical impairments. Our approach is tailored to help students manage sensory overload, anxiety, low self‑esteem, and challenges with transitions, often reflected in their behaviour.

The school boasts exceptional, fully inclusive facilities, including a hydrotherapy pool and expansive outdoor learning spaces. The school has its own full therapeutic team who work closely with class leaders to create a child‑centred curriculum that meets the needs of all learners.

Role

As a SEN/SEMH Teacher at this school, you will be responsible for delivering high‑quality, engaging learning within a meaningful and individualised curriculum designed to challenge and stretch all learners in your class. You will work as part of a dedicated team focused on providing the best education possible to prepare our students for their future.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver tailored, high‑quality learning
  • Create an engaging and supportive environment
  • Work closely with class leaders, therapists, and other professionals
  • Contribute to the overall development of the curriculum
  • Lead and manage support staff effectively
  • Engage in assessments and report on students' progress
  • Potential for involvement in physical intervention and personal care routines
Skills and Qualifications
  • PGCE, QTS, or equivalent teaching qualification with evidence of ongoing professional development (essential)
  • A solid understanding of the Teacher Standards and expectations
  • Experience working in a SEND school, particularly sensory‑led curriculums
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with others
  • Attention to detail in assessing, recording, and reporting progress
  • Leadership skills, with the ability to guide and support other adults in the classroom

If this sounds like the ideal next step for you, send your CV.
