Job summary

A dedicated education recruitment agency is looking for an Intervention Tutor to provide tailored academic support to secondary students across Newcastle. This role involves delivering personalized sessions in Maths and English, adapting teaching strategies to meet diverse needs, and collaborating with families and professionals. Ideal candidates will have experience working with students with SEND and hold relevant teaching qualifications. The position offers a part-time, temporary role with flexible hours to make a meaningful impact on learners' academic and personal development.

Qualifications

  • 6 months experience working with students with SEN, including ASD, ADHD and SEMH needs.
  • Strong understanding of the KS3/KS4 curriculum and differentiated teaching strategies.
  • Ability to build positive, professional relationships with young people.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, personalised sessions in Maths and English.
  • Support the development of communication and social skills.
  • Promote positive behaviour, confidence, and independence.
  • Adapt teaching approaches and resources according to student needs.
  • Work closely with parents/carers and schools.
  • Monitor progress and contribute to regular feedback.

Skills

Experience with students with SEN
Understanding of KS3/KS4 curriculum
Ability to build professional relationships

Education

Relevant teaching or SEN qualifications (e.g. QTS, PGCE or Level 3+ SEN)
