Semi-Senior Accounts Assistant - What Youll Be Doing
- As a Semi-Senior (in UK Practice only), youll support senior staff with general practice work including accounts preparation, tax compliance, and payroll services
- Preparing year-end accounts (FRS 102 & FRS 105) for a range of entities
- Preparing bookkeeping and producing management accounts
- Preparing and filing VAT returns for your own portfolio
- Effectively manage time to ensure that jobs are finished within budget and deadlines are met.
- Assisting with monthly client payrolls, including RTI and auto-enrolment
- Helping clients use MTD-compliant software and cloud platforms
- Assisting with onboarding new clients and maintaining accurate records
- Liaise with clients to request records, resolve queries, and provide day-to-day support
- Supporting the preparation of personal and corporate tax returns
- Keeping up to date with current tax and accounting standards
- Managing client communications and maintaining excellent relationships
- Researching IT software, accounting and tax issues as needed
- Support senior team members with ad hoc accounting and reporting tasks
Semi-Senior Accounts Assistant - What Were Looking For
- 2 - 3 years experience in UK accountancy practice
- Part-qualified ACCA / AAT Level 3 or 4, or equivalent experience
- Solid knowledge of QuickBooks, IRIS, Sage, FreeAgent, and Payroll Manager
- Good understanding of Making Tax Digital (MTD)
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills
- Experience in payroll (preferred, not essential)
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Professional, organised, and client-focused approach
- Good communication and client facing abilities and interpersonal skills
