Salary: £95 - £120 per day (Depending on Experience)

GSL Education are currently seeking a compassionate and committed SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional needs in specialist and mainstream school environments in Sheffield. As a SEMH TA, you will play a key role in fostering emotional wellbeing and academic engagement.

Responsibilities as an SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA):

  • Provide tailored support to pupils with SEMH needs on a 1:1 or small group basis.
  • Implement strategies that promote emotional regulation, positive behaviour, and academic achievement.
  • Support teachers in managing classroom dynamics and adapting learning materials.
  • Help pupils develop confidence, independence, and positive relationships.
  • Build strong, trusting connections with students, staff, and families.

Requirements for SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA):

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs is desirable.
  • Full UK driving licence and business insurance are essential due to travel between sites or off-site interventions.
  • A calm, patient, and adaptable approach to working with challenging behaviour.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  • A full CV covering the last 10 years, with any gaps explained.
