About the Role / Role Overview

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who face challenges that impact their emotional well-being, behaviour, and ability to engage with mainstream education. • Work collaboratively with SENCOs, pastoral teams, and parents/carers.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs.
  • Calm, empathetic, and resilient approach to behaviour support.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply via GSL).

What We Offer:

  • A dedicated consultant offering guidance and support throughout your placement.
  • Opportunities to secure long-term or permanent roles in supportive schools.
  • The chance to work in settings that truly value staff who make a difference.

If you are a Team-Teach trained SEMH Teaching Assistant ready to support vulnerable learners and foster resilience, this Wakefield-based role offers a meaningful career move.

Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks; including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
