Job summary

A dedicated recruitment agency is seeking a Secondary English & Functional Skills Teacher for a SEMH school in Bottesford. Are you an enthusiastic Secondary Teacher with a strong understanding of Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Are you passionate about supporting young people through engaging English and Functional Skills teaching? If so, this could be the ideal role for you.

Tradewind Recruitment is delighted to be working with a dedicated SEMH School in Bottesford, who are seeking a committed Secondary English & Functional Skills Teacher to join their team from January 2026 on a temp to perm basis. This opportunity is perfect for both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) who want to develop their practice within a specialist environment.

The Role

As the English & Functional Skills Teacher within this SEMH setting, you will:

  • Deliver inspiring English and Functional Skills lessons to KS3 and KS4 pupils.

  • Adapt teaching to meet the diverse academic and emotional needs of students with SEMH.

  • Foster a calm, supportive, and structured classroom environment.

  • Work collaboratively with a dedicated pastoral team to ensure pupils receive holistic support.

  • Use creativity and resilience to re-engage learners who may have experienced disrupted education.

What We're Looking For
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) (or equivalent)

  • Essential: A strong understanding of SEMH and experience supporting pupils with additional or complex needs

  • Ability to teach English and Functional Skills across key stages

  • A patient, nurturing, and student-focused approach to teaching

  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills

  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

  • Due to the rural location of the school in Bottesford, access to your own vehicle and the ability to drive is essential
