SEMH Maths Specialist Teacher - Trauma-Informed School

Start Date: 5th January 2026

Location: Northumberland

Salary: £120-£170 (depending on qualification and experience)

Contract: Full-time, term-time plus 3 days during holidays

Education Networkare is recruiting on behalf of a specialist, trauma-informed school seeking a Maths Specialist Teacher to join their expanding team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Maths teacher to make a real impact on students who have struggled in mainstream education, including those with SEN, SEMH needs or disrupted learning experiences.

About the School

The school includes an alternative provision offering bespoke academic support through 1:1 and very small group interventions focused on mental health, trauma and SEN. Behaviour management experience is essential due to the nature of the setting.

Role Overview
  • Deliver high-quality Maths teaching up to GCSE level, building confidence and competence in all learners.
  • Teach and lead Functional Skills Maths (Entry Level to Level 2), providing personalised learning pathways.
  • Support students' social and emotional development, nurturing self-belief and engagement.
  • Work collaboratively to create bespoke learning pathways tailored to individual needs.
  • Supervise and guide support staff as required.
  • Promote the school's ethos, safeguarding practices, and equality and diversity at all times.
Candidate Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience working with children or families with SEN or challenging behaviours.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and experience applying trauma-informed strategies.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues, fostering a supportive team environment.
  • Flexible, organised, and committed to delivering personalised learning experiences.
  • Confident in safeguarding, with the ability to respond swiftly to incidents.

Working Pattern

Monday - Friday, term-time plus 3 days during school holidays. 40 hours per week
