A leading security services provider is seeking a Core Security Officer to protect client property and ensure adherence to security protocols at Thames Valley Park, Reading. The ideal candidate has essential experience in security and must hold a valid SIA License. The role offers a full-time position with a shift pattern of 4 days on and 4 days off, at a pay rate of £14 per hour.

Qualifications

  • Experience in security essential.
  • Hold a valid Security Guarding or Door Supervisor SIA License.
  • Desirable to have CCTV SIA License.

Overview

Core Security Officer

Location: Thames Valley Park, Reading

Employment: Full time

Shift Pattern: 4 days on and 4 days off pattern

Pay Rate: £14 ph

Responsibilities
  • To protect our customer's property, people and/or assets by providing security services in direct accordance with the sites published Assignment Instructions (AI's) and any subsequent changes.
  • Delivering results that meet and / or exceed the Key performance indicators / Service Level Agreement for the customer through full responsibility and accountability, providing a service that aids in the retention of the contract.
  • To undertake additional training to ensure continuous self-development.
Main Duties
Operations
  • To ensure that you read and adhere to the requirements detailed in the Assignment Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • To fully understand the workings of the site, the current site rosters and highlight any possible shortfalls to the Security Manager.
  • To be familiar with all aspects of policies and relevant legal and regulatory requirements as directed by the Operations Manager and in accordance with UK Law and Guidance bodies.
  • Fully and satisfactorily complete all the tasks and duties on site as defined within the published Assignment Instructions (AI's).
  • Proactively refer to and review the published Assignment Instructions, familiarising yourself with any changes.
  • To be compliant with Industry and Statutory Legislation (you are required to hold a front-line licence in either Security Guarding or Door Supervision).
  • To ensure a detailed handover is carried out between shifts.
  • To continually strive for personal development.
  • To respond to all incidents in-line with the SOPs and follow the established escalation procedures.
  • Comply with legal obligations and safety requirements of the role.
  • Act as an ambassador to the Client organisation, ensuring that their business is represented accordingly in all the duties you undertake.
  • Continually support new initiatives and contribute to the development of the site.
  • Work in a systematic, methodology and orderly way.
  • Excellent communication skills essential, both written and oral.
  • Smart and presentable.
Training
  • Fully and satisfactorily complete all required competency training.
  • To undertake additional training to ensure continuous self-development as directed by the Security Manager.
  • Use technology to achieve key work objectives and develop job knowledge and expertise through continual professional development.
  • You are required to ensure you renew your licence 16 weeks before expiry.
Security and Health & Safety
  • Look out for, and to immediately report, any Health & Safety hazards, or potential hazards, on site.
  • Stay alert to any threats or changes within the work environment to take the appropriate action to reduce the chance of disruption, loss or damage.
  • Use common sense and initiative by immediately escalating any potential risks to the site.
  • To maintain professional conduct during any incidents on site.
  • Complete an accurate, detailed reports as soon as possible after any incident, which can then be used as part of the incident report process.
  • Keep to schedules and demonstrate commitment to Mitie and the Client.
  • To ensure check calls are being carried out at the allocated time slot as stipulated in the Assignment Instructions (AI's).
  • To call emergency services and Mitie Control Room to report all incidents.
What we are looking for
  • Previous Security Experience essential
  • Security Guarding or Door Supervisor SIA License
  • CCTV SIA License (desirable)
