Qualifications

  • Minimum Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply.
  • Genuine passion for helping students overcome barriers to learning.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Experience with young people in an educational setting is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the classroom teacher with lesson preparation and delivery.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students.
  • Help students with special educational needs or those struggling academically.
  • Listen to students read and help develop their literacy skills.
  • Create and prepare classroom displays and resources.
  • Support the teacher in managing classroom behaviour.
  • Supervise students during break times, lunch, or trips.
  • Help develop and implement individualised learning plans.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the teacher.
  • Support students with their social and emotional development.
  • Ensure the health and safety of students in the classroom and around the school.

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Secondary Teaching Assistant to join a well-respected and inclusive school in the area of Wakefield. This is a full-time position, starting this September, working with students across Key Stages 3 and 4.
