A leading care provider in the UK is seeking a passionate Second Chef to assist in creating nutritious and flavorful menus. You will manage the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence and work with fresh, seasonal ingredients to provide high-quality dishes. This is a temporary position as a Second Chef at a care home operated by Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK's leading healthcare providers. The role involves assisting the Head Chef in creating nutritious, flavorsome, and well-balanced menus for the residents, while working to maintain hotel/restaurant standards. The position offers a good work-life balance with regular working hours and weekends off.
As a Second Chef at Barchester, you will have the opportunity to work with fresh, seasonal ingredients and deliver high-quality, wholesome dishes. You will assist the Head Chef in menu development and managing the kitchen in their absence. The role also involves leading and motivating a team, working within budget, and completing regular audits. NEED TO HAVE
• A personable and warm approach with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of residents
• Hold City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent
• Experience in helping lead and inspire a team
• A good understanding of nutrition
• Experience of working with fresh seasonal food
• The ability to create a warm and welcoming environment within our home
• Good understanding of HACCP
